A SHOOTING spree killed a village councilor and injured seven others in Dalena, San Pablo, Isabela province.
Police identified the victim as barangay kagawad Gerly Telan.
Wounded were Barangay Captain Briscio Lumabi Gammaru, Isidro Dayag Mamauag, Michael Curibang Mansibang, Vicenta Curibang Guiquing, Jose Soriano Mamauag, Sofrino Alingod Crisologo, and Allen David Guinucud Cauan.
Initial investigation revealed that the victims were dancing when the suspect entered the dance floor and shot the victims.
All the victims were brought to the hospital but Kagawad Telan was declared dead upon arrival.
Likewise, the alleged suspect who was found wounded at the crime scene was brought to the same hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
“I am instructing the San Pablo Municipal Police Station to dig deeper into this violent incident as this involves village officials. The alleged culprit may have been dead but we want to find out the real motive of the crime to avoid similar violent acts from happening,” PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos said.
The PNP is in the process of identifying the profile of the suspect.
