THE Coast Guard District North Western Luzon has successfully rescued a three-day-missing fisherman at 17 nautical miles off the coast of Agno, Pangasinan on Sunday.
The missing fisherman was identified as Dexter Abalos, a 32-year-old resident of Brgy Aloleng, Agno, Pangasinan. According to him, he went fishing on 07 March 2024.
However, while on his way back to the shore, his motorbanca was suddenly hit by a dolphin which caused it to be capsized. Fortunately, he managed to swim towards a fish marker, locally known as “payao” and tied his motorbanca to it. Mr Abalos stayed there for days waiting for a rescue to arrive.
With the help of the PCG Aircraft (BN ISLANDER PCG- 251), the missing fisherman was located through air surveillance that the Coast Guard Aviation Force (CGAF) conducted earlier this morning.
