AUTHORITIES have identified the origin of the body of the woman found stuffed in a plastic container box and dumped in a river in Barangay Pinagwarasan, Basud, Camarines Norte on January 2. The investigation has revealed that the suspect transported the body from Laguna province, south of Manila.
According to the Basud Municipal Police Station, a tricycle driver came forward after recognizing the news on social media. The driver claimed he was hired by the suspect to transport the box to the location where it was dumped.
The investigation revealed that the male suspect boarded a passenger bus bound for Daet at the Turbina Terminal in Calamba, Laguna, inquiring if there was still space on the bus’s running board.
Unaware that the luggage contained a corpse, terminal personnel allowed him to board. The suspect reportedly claimed the contents were groceries and fragile items.
Upon arriving in Daet, the suspect hired a tricycle and proceeded directly to the location where the body was dumped.
The tricycle driver then immediately left the area.
Daet is approximately seven kilometers from Basud.
Although the exact location is yet to be determined, it is significant for the Basud MPS and Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Unit to know that both the suspect and the unidentified victim originated from Region IV-A (Calabarzon).
The Basud MPS is now coordinating with their counterparts in Calabarzon for the swift resolution of the case.
