A CHILLING incident unfolded in Antipolo City on Tuesday, April 22, when a bakery worker stabbed seven of his co-workers to death while they slept.
The suspect, who later surrendered to authorities, claimed he acted in self-defense, alleging a plot by the victims to kill him.
Police reports from the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO 4A) indicate that the suspect entered the bakery in Barangay Cupang around 6:00 a.m. and attacked the sleeping victims with a balisong and a knife. The bodies were discovered at approximately 6:00 a.m., and the incident was reported to the police at 8:00 a.m.
The suspect, now in the custody of the Antipolo Police and Rizal Police Provincial Office, confessed to the crime, claiming the victims had planned to kill him by suffocating him with a pillow to make it appear as if he died in his sleep. His wife was expected to arrive from the province that morning.
“If they hadn’t planned to kill me with a pillow to make my wife think I died in my sleep, this wouldn’t have happened,” the suspect stated during questioning.
He admitted to stabbing the victims, including those who attempted to fight back, and striking them with a blunt object to ensure their deaths. The suspect attributed the motive to a dispute over the bakery business, claiming he was targeted for elimination to gain sole ownership.
“They wanted to kill me so they could take over the business, which we shared. If I was dead, they would have everything,” he explained.
The horrific incident has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving residents reeling from the brutality of the crime. Authorities are currently investigating the suspect’s claims to determine the validity of his self-defense argument. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released as the case progresses.
