Angono LGU transforms seized open mufflers as Christmas decors

CONSISTENT with a municipal ordinance strictly prohibiting the use of noise-generating motorcycle accessories, Angono’s Public Safety Office (PSO) kicked off its holiday countdown by coming up with Christmas decors made out of confiscated open mufflers.

In its official Facebook post, PSO chief Bryan Villamarin Cruz said that the idea was actually designed to raising awareness on the local government’s multi-facet environmental policy embarking on solid waste management and pollution control, among others.

“We’re actually hitting two facets in this humble concept – noise reduction and compliance to our ordinance. The use of seized open mufflers as component of our Christmas décors is just a bonus,” said Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon in a statement, commending the local PSO for what she described as an economical, yet effective way of conveying a strong message.

“We are commending the PSO over the impact it has generated out of this little effort. Kaya sa mga open muffler diyan, sige pahuli pa kayo para mas marami pang magawa. Ang kukulit niyo eh,” Calderon said.

Villamarin for his part said that they are on a sustained phase of implementing other local ordinances, which include anti-littering, regulated plastic use, traffic management, to name a few.

Relatedly, Calderon also called on the public to take part in the LGU’s annual lantern-making competition using recyclable materials.
