POLICE Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) reported the abduction of an American national in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte on Thursday evening.
PRO-9 spokesperson Police Colonel Helen Galvez confirmed the incident, stating that a report was filed with them regarding the abduction, which occurred around 11 p.m. in a sitio in Zamboanga del Norte.
Galvez revealed that four armed men, who identified themselves as law enforcement officers, took the victim from the house of his in-laws. Authorities are currently investigating to determine the group responsible for the abduction.
“We are looking into the involvement of four fully armed men who claimed to be law enforcement,” Galvez stated. “However, we are still investigating and have not yet identified any specific group or local criminals in the area.”
The American national, who is married to a Filipino woman, has been living in the Philippines for five months.
Authorities have not yet received any information regarding a possible ransom demand or any other demands related to the kidnapping. The investigation is ongoing.
