EIGHT crew members were rescued after the motor banca they were riding caught fire in the vicinity waters off Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Port in Magosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur on Thursday.
The Philippine Coast Guard said the victims were on board MBCA MINYAHAD when they encounteres engine trouble while underway to Barangay Lenok, Lapuyan, Zamboanga Del Sur.
The engine backfired and caught fire due to fuel residue.
One injured crew who acquired minor burns on his legs received immediate medical attention and necessary assistance. Other rescued individuals were declared to be in good physical condition.
The PPA Margosatubig, MDRRMO, RHU Margosatubig, and civilian volunteers also assisted in the rescue operation.
