THREE heavily armed suspects died, and three others were arrested following a brief shootout during a police operation in Tandubas, Tawi-Tawi on Sunday, July 31.
The neutralized suspects were identified as Nurhamin Madnur, Moh’d Al Sangogot and a certain alias Billy, while the arrested suspects were Alhamin Sangogot, Alman Ladjabassal and Adin Nur.
Before the operation, the Tandubas Municipal Police Station received a phone call from a concerned citizen informing about the presence of a group of armed men spotted at Kalang islet, barangay Kakoong.
With proper planning ang coordination, police operatives trooped to the said area and found the suspects there.
Upon arrival at the area, the responding troops were fired upon by the suspects. This resulted to a fire fight that lasted for several minutes.
“Interestingly, records will show that the suspects are notorious drug personalities. They became violent and our personnel had to apply necessary and reasonable force to defend themselves against the aggression,” PNP OIC Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said.
A series of charges in violation of Republic Acts 10591 and 9165 will be lodged against the apprehended persons.
