PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents seized an estimated P321.98 million worth of suspected shabu in Cagayan over the weekend.
The discovery involved a series of separate incidents, beginning with the recovery of 45.6 kilograms of shabu, valued at P312.8 million, found floating near the shore of Barangay Centro 6, Claveria, Cagayan, early Sunday morning, June 15.
Two fishermen turned over the drugs, which were packaged in 50 plastic packs of gold tea bags bearing Chinese characters and the label “DAGUANYIN.”
In related operations, authorities recovered an additional kilo of suspected shabu worth P6.8 million during a seaborne patrol in Sitio Narvacan, Barangay Dilam, Calayan, Cagayan, two days prior.
On the same day, a fisherman and a barangay official surrendered a 750-gram pack of suspected shabu, valued at P5.1 million, found floating in Sitio Mingay, Barangay San Juan, Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan.
The PDEA credited the successful operations to the swift response and coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Philippine National Police and Philippine Coast Guard. All recovered suspected shabu has been sent to the PDEA Regional Office 2 Laboratory Office for analysis.
