A 14-year-old girl was found bloodied and dead inside her house in Zamboanga City. The victim suffered stab wounds believed to be from scissors.
According to reports, the crime happened in Barangay Cacao, and the suspect appears to be a neighbor of the victim.
The police stated that the victim was stabbed in the neck and chest, with signs of resistance against the suspect.
The victim’s grandmother recounted that she left the house and invited her granddaughter to come along, but she refused and stayed at home.
When the grandmother returned, she found her granddaughter lying on the floor of their house, prompting her to immediately seek help from authorities.
In a follow-up police operation, a 32-year-old male neighbor of the victim was arrested.
According to a witness, the suspect was seen leaving the victim’s house.
“The SOCO was able to recover two scissors, an axe in the area. Immediately I ordered for the operation on the ground. We have already suspect on custody, we are processing him now,” said Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) OIC Director, Kimberly Molitas.
The victim’s relatives said the suspect attempted to take advantage of the victim. Molitas mentioned that there were no indications of abuse or assault on the young girl.
