THE Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court has dismissed the conspiracy to commit sedition case against former senator Antonio Trillanes IV and several others in connection with the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos, which implicated then-president Duterte and some of his family members in the illegal drug trade in 2019.
The case was dismissed following the grant of the demurrer to evidence filed by Trillanes and his co-accused by Presiding Judge Kristine Grace Suarez of Branch 138.
In addition to Trillanes, those exonerated include Joenel Peter Advincula, also known as Bikoy, Joel Saracho, Boom Enriquez, Yolanda V. Ong, Vicente Romano III, Fr. Albert E. Alejo, Fr. Flaviano Villanueva, Jonnel P. Sangalang, and Eduardo Acierto.
Recalling events from April 2019, viral videos implicated then-President Duterte and his family in the illegal drug trade prior to the mid-term elections.
Advincula later surrendered to authorities, alleging that the videos were part of “Project Sodoma,” aimed at disseminating fake news and false stories about the president, his family, and associates.
The objective was to undermine public trust in Duterte, remove him from office, and install then-Vice President Leni Robredo as president, with Trillanes as vice president, while boosting the candidacy of the “Otso Diretso” senatorial line-up.
