PINAY boxer Hergie Bacyadan secured her ticket in the women’s 75kg division on Sunday afternoon in Bangkok, Thailand.
She is headed to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Bacyadan, who used to compete in Vovinam, overpowered Venezuela’s Maryelis Yriza in their quota bout to clinch one of the four tickets at stake in their weight class.
She floored Yriza in the second round to cruise to the 5-0 victory in what was her third fight in the World Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament 2.
The Filipina previously survived Veronika Nakota of Hungary in the second round, winning a 3-2 split decision to advance to the all-important quota bout.
Bacyadan now joins four other Filipino fighters in the Paris Olympics: Tokyo silver medalist Carlo Paalam, who qualified just Saturday night; Tokyo silver medalist Nesthy Petecio, Tokyo bronze medalist Eumir Marcial, and debutante Aira Villegas.
She is also the 15th member of the Philippine delegation to the Paris Games. Aside from the boxers, also set to represent the Philippines are: pole vaulter EJ Obiena; fencer Samantha Catantan; gymnasts Carlos Yulo, Aleah Finnegan.
