IT appears that incumbent party-list groups will certainly have a run for their money as ‘Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas (ABP) rose to the 14th spot in the list of ranking aspirants in the party-list polls for the upcoming midterm elections on May 12, 2025.
Based on the 2025 Pre-Election Preferential Survey conducted by a independent market research firm Tangere, the ABP party-list garnered 1.68 percent from a sample of 2,400 mobile-based respondents, with a 1.96 percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level using Stratified Sampling.
The survey was conducted from February 11-14 of the current year.
Representing the country’s volunteer firefighters and rescuers, ABP is led by its president and the group’s first nominee Jose Antonio ‘Ka Pep’ Goitia, along with Lenin Bacud, Catleya Cher Goitia, Jose Mari Antonio Goitia, Carl Gene Moreno Plantado and Howie Quimzon Manga.
Goitia expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the support and trust given by the public to their group that has pushed ABP”s good standing in serving the Filipino people, not only in times of fire but also during disasters and calamities and even medical emergency situations.
“Tuloy ang laban para sa mas ligtas, mas handa at mas protektadong Pilipinas. Salamat sa suporta at tiwala na ibinibigay ng taumbayan. Ito ang nagbibigay sa amin ng lakas-ng-loob upang makapaglingkod hindi lamang sa oras na may sunog kundi maging sa mga oras na sumusuong sa matititnding kalamidad ang ating bayan,” he stressed with conviction.
Goitia emphasized that their group is not only dependable during fires but also in advocating for the welfare of citizens severely affected by various calamities, ensuring they receive financial and medical assistance to the best of their ability.
Based on its legislative agenda, ABP will prioritize giving voice in Congress the tens of thousands of volunteer firefighters and rescuers who are always ready to sacrifice and risk their lives to save people and property during all disasters.
The party-list group likewise aims to provide firefighters with more benefits, insurance and medical assistance in cases of accidents while responding to fires. It also plans to equip them with additional knowledge and skills for more effective emergency response even as their family members will be provided with livelihood program assistance.
Aside from these, the ABP also aims to provide adequate knowledge and training to each barangay in order to be better prepared for fires and other calamities. Another goal of the group is to provide fire trucks and emergency services to ensure sufficient transportation for responses, especially in remote areas.
