OFW Party List Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino launched her new television show entitled “OFW, IKAW ANG BIDA!” today, August 26, 2023.
The new show will air every Saturday from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on the Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) Channel.
The new service-oriented show continues the media advocacy of Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino to raise awareness and provide practical solutions to the myriad challenges faced by Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Previously, she also hosted the television shows Buhay OFW and World Class Kababayan, which delved into the plight of OFWs and offered viable solutions through collaboration with government agencies and private sector stakeholders.
“Iniimbitahan natin ang ating mga kababayan sa buong mundo, lalo na ang ating mga minamahal na OFWs, na manood ng ating bagong palabas, ang “OFW, IKAW ANG BIDA!”, tuwing Sabado mula 5:00 hanggang 6:00 pm sa SMNI. Tagos sa pusong mga kwento, mga makabuluhang usapan, at agarang aksyon ang hatid natin bawat episode! Higit sa lahat, pagpupugay ang ating bagong palabas sa ating mga OFWs na bayani ng ating makabagong panahon,” said Magsino.
“OFW, IKAW ANG BIDA!” features the stories of OFWs, including their personal sacrifices and professional travails. Capturing the reality of an overseas worker’s life, the show highlights not only the successes and inspirations of an OFW, but also the struggles and insurmountable challenges he or she faces. The show also features discussions with government officials and private stakeholders as they work with the OFW sector in providing solutions to the long-standing issues in labor migration.
A segment also showcases training and job opportunities designed for OFWs, in line with the belief of Magsino that full employment in the country must be developed and maximized to make labor migration a choice, not a necessity.
A viewer-participation segment also provides practical advice and tips on OFW-related issues and an express helpdesk for netizens. The show also highlights the OFW Tulong at Serbisyo Center located at the 4th Floor of the Ayala Malls Manila Bay, which is the focal point in the delivery of services and welfare assistance provided by the OFW Party List.
“I have been in the broadcast industry long before I joined politics and I know that media is a potent tool in helping forward my advocacies for the OFW sector, more so hand-in-hand with the resources available to me now as Representative of the OFW Party List. Sa pagsisilbi sa ating OFW sector, wala tayong oportunidad na sasayangin mapa-media o public service – all out tayo basta’t alam nating makakatulong sa ating mga bagong bayani. Kaya’t sana ay samahan tayo ng ating mga kababayan sa ating bagong show at dasal natin na ito ay maging instrumento upang lalong lumawak ang ating pagtulong sa ating mga OFWs, ang bida ng ating bayan,” Magsino said.
