OFW Party List celebrates excellence in public service at the 3rd IMPACT Awards

admin September 7, 2024

THE OFW Party List and the Buhay OFW Foundation, under the leadership of Representative Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino, held the 3rd IMPACT Awards Night last night to honor outstanding individuals, civic groups, government institutions, private organizations, and Overseas Filipino Workers who continue to uplift the lives of the Filipino people through their advocacies and avenues of service.

“This night brings us together not only to celebrate individual and collective achievements, but also to acknowledge the enduring spirit of unity and service that binds us all. This event is a testament to the strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment of those who work tirelessly for the betterment of our nation. It is a celebration that recognizes the exemplary contributions of our government officials, NGOs, private sector partners, and most importantly, our modern-day heroes—the Overseas Filipino Workers,” stated Magsino.

The IMPACT Awards was initiated by Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino through the Buhay OFW Foundation in 2009 with the vision of recognizing exceptional groups and individuals across various sectors who advocate for and serve to uplift Filipino lives. Since then, these awards have honored outstanding individuals, civic groups, government institutions, and private organizations for their significant contributions to humanity and nation-building.

The OFW Party List and the Buhay OFW Foundation handed out 48 awards across various categories during the 3rd IMPACT Awards. Honorees included exemplary public servants for their dedication to public service, community impact leaders for their positive contributions to local communities, and innovators in governance for implementing effective policies, particularly officials of government-owned and controlled corporations as selected by Governance Commission for GOCCs led by Chairperson Marius Corpus.

Other categories recognized collaboration champions for fostering partnerships, individuals for excellence in integrity and ethics, leaders promoting inclusivity and diversity, public policy visionaries with impactful initiatives, and environmental stewards for their commitment to sustainability.

Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez was also honored with a Special Award for Exemplary Leadership while Congresswoman Yedda Marie Romualdez was honored with a Special Award as Woman of Influence. Speaker Romualdez delivered a message as Guest of Honor, which was read by Magsino as the Speaker was in Davao City for the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair.

During the event, Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino also recognized the Top 5 Notchers of the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination for June 2024, held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, namely Ms. Lianne F. Cueva, Ms. Joan E. Abiera, Ms. Aileen D. Rodriguez, Ms. Mashora M. Salwang, and Mr. Michael Angelo V. Mendoza.

The parents of the OFWs received their recognition on behalf of their children who are currently working in Saudi Arabia.

“Our OFWs are the backbone of our economy, sustaining the nation through their relentless hard work and sacrifices. Their contributions extend beyond remittances; they embody the resilience and dedication of the Filipino spirit. The Impact Awards are not just a celebration of their achievements but a heartfelt tribute to their unwavering spirit, courage, and love for our country. Each award symbolizes our gratitude and recognition of their efforts, honoring both their professional accomplishments and their commitment to uplifting their families and communities,” said Magsino.

As the event also aimed to raise funds for the projects of the Buhay OFW Foundation and the OFW Party List, such as seed capital for micro-enterprises of OFW returnees, Livelihood Assistance Grants worth P20,000 each were awarded to 25 OFWs and family members.

“This event reminds us of the vital role our OFWs continue to play in shaping our nation’s progress and reinforces our duty to ensure their well-being and success, especially as they return to the country after years of toiling abroad,” Magsino added.
