THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced today it will provide comprehensive assistance to the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) whose five-year-old daughter was tragically killed in Sunday’s SUV crash at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
The OFW, who was preparing to depart for Europe, will receive support in explaining his absence to his overseas employer.
The DMW also expressed deep sorrow for the OFW’s wife, who remains hospitalized in critical condition after being injured in the accident, and offered prayers for her recovery. The OFW’s mother, also injured but now out of immediate danger, is also in their thoughts.
The agency is calling for swift justice for the victims.
“The Department joins the bereaved OFW and his family in their plea to bring the perpetrator to justice,” the DMW statement read.
Meanwhile, investigations into the incident are underway.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has preventively suspended the driver’s license of the motorist involved for 90 days and issued a show-cause order to both the driver and the vehicle’s registered owner.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will conduct a thorough investigation, including a drug test for the driver and a review of all available CCTV footage, in collaboration with the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and law enforcement.
The accident also resulted in the death of another adult and injuries to several others.
