A 40-year-old Italian woman abandoned her high school daughter on the edge of the Rome ring road because she had received a bad grade in Latin, peninsula media reported on May 28.
A police patrol found the 16-year-old girl on Monday afternoon walking along the edge of the capital’s busy ring road, at risk of being run over, and rescued her by taking her to a police station.
“We argued over a bad grade in Latin and she made me get out of the car,” the young woman told the police, according to the newspaper La Repubblica.
Good student, her bad grade is an exception, several newspapers report.
The police reported the mother “for mistreatment of a minor” and the matter was referred to the juvenile court.
