NETFLIX will increase its subscription prices for Philippine users starting June 1, 2025, to reflect the newly implemented 12% value-added tax (VAT) on digital services provided by foreign companies.
In an email to subscribers, Netflix announced the following revised monthly rates:
- Mobile: ₱169 (previously ₱149)
- Basic: ₱279 (previously ₱249)
- Standard: ₱449 + ₱169 per extra member (previously ₱399 + ₱149 per extra member)
- Premium: ₱619 + ₱169 per extra member (up to two) (previously ₱549 + ₱149 per extra member)
The price increases follow the enactment of Republic Act 12023, signed into law by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., which imposes a 12% VAT on digital services, including streaming platforms. The government aims to create a more equitable playing field between traditional and digital businesses.
This follows a similar price increase announced last month by Steam, also due to the new VAT regulations.
