Women’s Month: Romualdez honors Filipino women’s contributions

admin March 2, 2025

SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Sunday joined the nation in celebrating Women’s Month, as he honors the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of Filipino women while calling for continued efforts to promote gender equality and empowerment.

“This Women’s Month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of Filipino women who continue to shape our nation. Whether as mothers, educators, workers, entrepreneurs, or leaders, their dedication is the backbone of our society,” Speaker Romualdez said in his message.

The leader of the 306-member House of Representatives said that beyond recognition, Women’s Month serves as a call to action to dismantle barriers and create more opportunities for women across all sectors.

“But this celebration goes beyond recognition—it is a call to action. We must continue breaking barriers, ensuring equal opportunities, and empowering women in every sector,” Speaker Romualdez pointed out.

“The House of Representatives remains committed to enacting laws that protect women’s rights, eliminate discrimination and violence, and promote their leadership in governance and nation-building,” he added.

Speaker Romualdez cited the long-standing role of women in shaping the country’s history and development, from their contributions in the home to leadership in key industries and governance.

“Sa bawat yugto ng ating kasaysayan, hindi matatawaran ang ambag ng kababaihan. Mula sa tahanan hanggang sa larangan ng ekonomiya, edukasyon, politika, at serbisyo publiko, sila ang nagbibigay-lakas at malasakit sa ating lipunan. Ang kanilang talino, sipag, at determinasyon ay pundasyon ng ating patuloy na pag-unlad,” the Speaker said.

While acknowledging progress in advancing women’s rights, Speaker Romualdez said that more must be done to ensure every woman has the freedom to achieve her full potential.

“Marami na tayong naabot sa pagsusulong ng pagkakapantay-pantay, ngunit marami pang kailangang gawin. We will not stop until every woman has the freedom to dream, achieve, and succeed without limits,” Speaker Romualdez said.

He ended his message by stating that empowering women strengthens families, communities, and the nation as a whole.

“Because when we empower women, we uplift families, strengthen communities, and secure a better future for all. Mabuhay ang kababaihang Pilipino! Happy Women’s Month!” Speaker Romualdez said.
