SENATOR Mark Villar expressed his strong support for several bills aimed at upgrading various Land Transportation Office (LTO) offices during a public hearing of the Committee on Public Services on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. The bills also include franchise applications for two broadcasting networks and three electric cooperatives.
“From transfer, conversion, to expansion of various (LTO) offices, we are here to inquire whether these updates and upgrades of the offices are in line with our goal of making public services readily available to our fellow Filipinos,” Villar stated.
The senator, who previously served as Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), highlighted the importance of well-organized public service offices and facilities. “As the former Secretary of the DPWH, I understand the necessity to further organize our public services offices and facilities. I am with our officers from LTO and local government officials in pursuit of development of our local offices, especially in terms of sustainable infrastructure,” he added.

This approach aligns with the growing global movement towards building resilient and sustainable infrastructure that minimizes environmental impact and promotes long-term economic growth.
The public hearing focused on examining the proposed upgrades to LTO offices, ensuring they meet the needs of the public and contribute to a more efficient and accessible transportation system. The hearing also delved into the franchise applications of the broadcasting networks and electric cooperatives, scrutinizing their plans and their potential impact on the communities they serve.
