IN honor of International Firefighters Day, Quezon City District V Representative PM Vargas proposes a pioneering legislative measure to enhance fire safety within the communities.
The initiative aims to install firehose cabinets at 150-meter-interval. This is a result of the consultations with the Quezon City District’s Fire Bureau, which will help them in responding to fire incidents in thickly populated areas.
“Providing accessible firehoses would bolster the capacity of our firefighters to respond and significantly enhance the communities’ resilience to fire-related incidents”, says the legislator as he files for the “Fire Proof Barangay Act” for the fourteen barangays of District V with the House Committee on Local Government.
In his explanatory note, Vargas underscores the importance of strategically installing firehoses, to reduce the response time during emergencies, especially in densely inhabited areas with narrow alleys that cannot allow fire trucks to get through.
“This initiative is a commitment to proactive disaster management and a product of listening to the long-standing concerns raised by the brave firefighters in the District”, cites Vargas.
International Firefighters Day is observed annually every May 4th to recognize the sacrifices and dedication of firefighters worldwide.
“We enjoin the world in commending our firefighters who have been in the forefront to save lives and properties. They are our everyday heroes whose dedication is beyond compare,” Vargas said.
