THE US Embassy in the Philippines announced the closure of its consular section for American citizen services and visa appointments on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, due to inclement weather in Metro Manila.
The embassy cited the safety of its staff, US citizens, and visa applicants as the top priority for the closure.
Individuals with scheduled appointments on Wednesday are instructed to check their registered email addresses for rescheduling instructions. Those with scheduling concerns may contact the embassy’s customer service center at (02) 8548-8223 or (02) 7792-8988.
US citizens needing to reschedule passport or notarial appointments may do so through the online appointment system.
Emergency assistance for US citizens in the Philippines is available by calling (02) 5301-2000. The embassy’s offsite Visa Application Center in Parañaque City will remain open for all scheduled biometrics appointments.
The closure follows a PAGASA forecast indicating that the Habagat (Southwest Monsoon) will continue to bring rain to Metro Manila and surrounding provinces for the next 24 hours. Areas expected to be affected include Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Benguet, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Bulacan.
