THE Tarlac Regional Trial Court has allowed dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo face the Senate on Monday after the Capas, Tarlac Regional Trial Court allowed her to attend its hearing on Philippine offshore gaming operators.
Capas, RTC Judge Sarah Vedaña-Delos Santos granted the request of Sen. Risa Hontiveros to bring Guo to the Senate.
“Given the importance of the on-going inquiry in aid of legislation, the Court grants the Senator’s request,” Vedaña-Delos Santos said in her order.
She directed the Philippine National Police Custodial Center to bring Guo to the Senate on Monday.
The Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, under Hontiveros, will lead the hearing.
The court earlier placed Guo under PNP custody after she did not post bail following her arrest for graft charges pending before it.
A lawyer for Guo said she did not post bail because it would not have made a difference in her freedom.
The Senate has also ordered Guo’s arrest for skipping its hearings on the POGO issue.
Hontiveros earlier wondered why Guo prefers to stay in the PNP jail instead of the Senate detention facility.
Guo arrived in the Philippines early Friday following her arrest in Indonesia.
She was turned over to Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos and Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Marbil, who brought her back via private plane.
