PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG) personnel confirmed the recovery of a suspected underwater drone in Pangasinan waters on Wednesday.
PCG spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, Commodore Jay Tarriela, stated that the drone was retrieved approximately 149 nautical miles northwest of Bolinao.
The suspected underwater drone measures approximately 160 centimeters in length and 20 inches in width, with an estimated weight of 100 kilograms.
Commodore Tarriela indicated that the device has been turned over to authorities for further investigation and analysis to determine its origin and purpose. The recovery raises questions about potential surveillance activities in the area and underscores the need for heightened maritime security.
