THE Senate Impeachment Court has not yet issued a subpoena to former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to testify in connection with Article II of the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte, court spokesperson Atty. Reginald Tongol confirmed Sunday.
The House prosecution panel has formally requested the court to summon Trillanes to appear next week as a witness on allegations of unexplained wealth and receipt of funds from identified sources. His testimony would relate to claims he first raised publicly in April regarding purported funds linked to the Vice President and her family.
Trillanes is among four key witnesses whose subpoenas are still pending. The others are Kathy Florence Baldonado and Marco Pineda from the Davao City Register of Deeds, and Ronnel Buenaventura, executive director of the Anti‑Money Laundering Council (AMLC) Secretariat. Their testimonies are expected to cover property records, land transactions, and financial data central to the prosecution’s presentation on Article II, which focuses on alleged unexplained wealth and SALN discrepancies.
The court is currently proceeding with evidence‑taking under Article II, with hearings scheduled through early October. Prosecutors have cited Trillanes’ prior public statements — including claims that the Duterte family received ₱181 million from an alleged drug lord — as relevant to the case. Vice President Duterte has repeatedly denied these allegations, dismissing them as recycled and politically motivated. The court has yet to rule on whether to grant the prosecution’s request and formally issue the subpoena.
