SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Saturday led the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair dry-run in Naval, Biliran to mark the start of an ambitious undertaking that puts together 50 programs and services of some 33 government agencies, including delivery of an estimated P80 million worth of assistance, under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. in one roof for two days in the province.
The goal, said Romualdez, is to respond to the challenge posed by no less than President Marcos to speed up the delivery of government services to the farthest corners of the country. The program is intended to be replicated in every province.
Kasama natin sa adhikain na ito ang buong kasapian ng House of Representatives,” Romualdez, the leader of the 311-member House of Representatives, said in a speech.
The House leader, in partnership with Tingog Party List Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre led the pilot launch of the Serbisyo Fair at the Biliran Province State University in Naval.
It brought to the doorstep of Biliran residents at least 50 government programs, services, and assistance, including the labor department’s TUPAD and the DSWD’s AICS, which both provide financial aid to distressed citizens.
In his message, Biliran Rep. Gerardo “Gerryboy” Espina, Jr. said it’s an honor for the province of Biliran to host the dry-run of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair.
With the launch of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair, which hopes to service over 900,000 citizens, Speaker Romualdez said the contributions of the House of Representatives will no longer be confined to the walls of the chamber but can be directly felt by the communities and the people themselves.
In Biliran alone around 26,000 beneficiaries benefitted from the services and programs of various government agencies, with about 20,000 receiving cash assistance (AICS, TUPAD, Scholarship), while over 5,000 residents received non-cash assistance like health and medical services.
