Solon bares P7.5 billion set to upgrade 22 airports

admin January 4, 2024

The lawmaker from Bicol said that the financial resources that can be saved by the government can be used for other public services that require urgent funding.

MAKATI City Rep. Luis Campos Jr., vice chairperson of the House committee on appropriations, has released the updated list of airports that will be receiving fresh funding under the national government’s 2024 Aviation Transport Infrastructure Program.

“The new funding allocations per airport are itemized in the 2024 General Appropriations Law,” Campos said in a statement on Wednesday.

“All told, Congress has earmarked P7.5 billion this year for the construction, rehabilitation and improvement of various airports and navigational facilities, including the procurement of equipment,” Campos said.

“The spending is meant to sustain the modernization and expansion of the country’s aviation hubs in time for the projected full recovery of global air traffic in 2025,” Campos pointed out.

“Of course, we are also counting on the spending to enhance the overall travel experience of passengers,” Campos said.
