MALACANANG has announced the appointment of two members to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), which will be tasked with investigating alleged anomalies in flood control projects.
Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson and SGV’s Rossana Fajardo have been named as members of the commission.
In addition to the appointments, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong will serve as a special adviser to the body, providing guidance and expertise in the investigation process.
The ICI was established through Executive Order No. 94 and is mandated to investigate flood control and other infrastructure projects undertaken within the last ten years from the effective date of the order.
The creation of the ICI and the appointment of its members signal a strong commitment from the government to address concerns regarding the integrity and effectiveness of infrastructure projects, particularly those aimed at mitigating the impact of flooding.
The commission’s findings are expected to inform future policies and practices in the planning, implementation, and oversight of infrastructure development.
