PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has initiated a comprehensive performance review encompassing all levels of the Philippine government bureaucracy, including senior officials, according to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
Speaking at a Palace press briefing Thursday, Bersamin clarified that the review extends beyond the Cabinet level, aiming for a thorough evaluation of government agencies, systems, and the quality of public service delivery nationwide. This sweeping review underscores the administration’s commitment to accountability and efficiency across all sectors.
The performance review includes a directive for heads of government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) to submit their courtesy resignations.
This action is intended to facilitate a thorough assessment of leadership within these entities and ensure alignment with the President’s expectations for efficiency and performance.
Executive Secretary Bersamin emphasized that the acceptance of any resignation is based on a careful evaluation of whether the individual has met the President’s standards for leadership and efficiency. He stressed that this is not a “purge,” but rather a strategic recalibration aimed at optimizing government operations.
Bersamin assured the public that the administration is committed to a smooth transition process to maintain continuity of services and stability within the government.
He commended those who heeded the President’s call for courtesy resignations, highlighting the administration’s dedication to a government that prioritizes swift action, tangible results, and the fulfillment of the Filipino people’s expectations.
The ongoing performance review is expected to shape significant changes within the government in the coming months, aiming to enhance efficiency and responsiveness to the needs of the citizenry.
