THE Senate Sergeant-at-Arms served Vice President Sara Duterte with a writ of summons at her office in Mandaluyong City Wednesday morning.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) confirmed receipt of the summons at 11:05 a.m.
According to reports from Super Radyo dzBB, Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Roberto Ancan personally delivered the summons. Ancan and other Senate staff arrived at the OVP headquarters at 10:43 a.m., carrying a box containing the legal document. They sought an OVP representative to formally receive the summons. Media were asked to maintain a distance from the scene.
The summons initiates a non-extendible 10-day period for Vice President Duterte to respond to the articles of impeachment filed against her.
In a statement, an OVP media relations officer reiterated the defense team’s stance that the impeachment accusations are baseless and that the fourth impeachment complaint lacks constitutional validity. The officer emphasized the defense team’s belief that the complaint suffers from significant constitutional defects.
