THE Sandiganbayan has ordered Senator Jinggoy Estrada to submit the necessary requirements for his request to travel abroad, as he faces plunder and graft charges related to the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
The anti-graft court’s 5th division, chaired by Associate Justice Gener Gito, gave Estrada five days to submit the required documents, including a detailed itinerary, hotel booking confirmations, an authority to travel, and an affidavit of undertaking.
Estrada’s camp had earlier filed a motion seeking permission for the senator to travel to Japan from December 26 to 31, and subsequently to Norway, Iceland, and Austria from January 5 to January 15.
The prosecution has raised concerns regarding Estrada’s travel request, citing his inclusion in the Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) due to his alleged involvement in the flood control anomaly. Estrada, who attended the hearing via video conference, maintains his innocence in the ongoing plunder and graft case.
