KABAYAN Partylist Rep. Ron P. Salo, the principal author and sponsor of the new charter of the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA), celebrates the approval of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education of the said measure, converting PhilSCA as the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines (NAAP).
The new charter aims to solidify the position of the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines as the premier government institution exclusively dedicated to aeronautics and aviation-related education.
“With the transformation of PhilSCA as a professional institution, we empower the institution to adapt and flourish in an increasingly interconnected and globalized society. This paves the way for the Academy to take a leading role in shaping the future of aviation education in our country,” Salo said.
The National Aviation Academy of the Philippines traces its roots back to its establishment in 1967 as the Basa Air Base Community College. Through various legislations and milestones, it has evolved into the Philippine State College of Aeronautics, earning recognition as the premier government institution specializing in aeronautics and aviation-related education.
“This bill signifies a crucial step towards realizing the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines’ aspirations to become the center of excellence in aviation and aeronautics. It equips students with the skills necessary to lead, manage, innovate, and operate a safe and efficient global aviation system for the 21st century,” Salo explained.
Rep. Salo commends the efforts of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education for recognizing the significance of the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines and for their support in approving the new charter. He extends his gratitude to Chair Mark Go, the committee members, and resource persons, for the bill’s committee approval.
“With the approval of the new charter, we embark on a journey towards excellence and innovation in aviation education. The National Aviation Academy of the Philippines is poised to become a beacon of knowledge and expertise, shaping the next generation of aviation professionals who will proudly represent our nation on the global stage,” Salo said.
“Aviation plays a crucial role in our country’s economic growth, tourism, and national security. By nurturing the talents and capabilities of our aviation professionals, the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines will contribute to the advancement of our nation’s aviation industry and propel us towards a brighter future,” Salo concluded.
