Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.
HOUSE Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Monday appealed to 3rd District Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves to come home and face his cases in court.
“I have yet to receive any communication from Cong. Arnie since I appealed to him to return home,” said the speaker.
“I expect Cong. Arnie to heed my appeal and report for work as soon as possible. His stay outside the country is no longer authorized by the House of Representatives.
“Nagsalita na ang mga opisyal ng PNP. They are willing to provide security to protect him from bodily harm. All Cong Arnie needs to do is make the appropriate request. Our law enforcers cannot extend this protection outside the Philippines,” added Romualdez.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday assured Teves. that he will be provided with security once he returns home from a personal trip to the United States.
“We want to assure the families and the loved ones of Congressman Teves that the PNP and other government forces are more than willing to provide security to him at hindi niya na po kailangan mag-request [and he doesn’t need to make a request],” PNP spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo told reporters.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez said Teves’ travel clearance already expired on March 10. He advised the Negros Oriental representative to return home as soon as possible.
