admin July 24, 2023

Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez hands over to Speaker Kim Jin-Pyo of the National Assembly of South Korea a copy of House Resolution No. 93 expressing strong support and solidarity with the Republic of Korea.

SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Monday afternoon formally presented to Speaker Kim Jin-Pyo of the National Assembly of South Korea the resolution adopted by the Philippine House of Representatives expressing strong support and solidarity with the Republic of South Korea in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Korean Armistice Agreement.

Romualdez led the party welcoming the delegation of Speaker Jin-Pyo that attended the presentation of Resolution No. 93 around lunchtime at the Women’s Legislators Lounge, South Wing Annex in Batasan Hills, Quezon City.

“I am pleased that with the pandemic behind us, our parliamentary exchanges have once again become active. It is my hope that the relationship between our two countries will continue to grow and

become even stronger over the coming years. Be assured that the House of Representatives of the 19th Congress will support the elevation of PH-ROK relations to a strategic partnership,” Romualdez, who heads the 312-member House of Representatives, said as he reiterated his condolences and expression of sympathy to South Korean leaders led by Speaker Jin-Pyo over loss of lives and massive damage to their country because of floods.

“It is my honor to lead the House of Representatives in presenting this Resolution to you, Speaker Jin-Piyo as a testament to our unwavering commitment to further grow and enrich both our countries’

friendship and relationship in all aspects,” Romualdez said.

Speaker Romualdez, Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez, and other lawmakers went on official visit in Jeju Island, South Korea last month for the ASEAN-Korea Leaders Forum on the occasion of the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity.

Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez expressed his appreciation for the active parliamentary exchanges between the two countries, welcomed the steady growth of ties between both countries, and hoped for an even stronger relationship.

She also expressed her support to the countries’ strategic partnership in economic, defense and infrastructure development cooperation. “We welcome the growing partnership between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea and we appreciate ROK for its continuing effort to improve the terms and conditions of work of Filipino workers in South Korea.”
