HOUSE Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez officially opens the Third Regular Session of the 19th Congress ahead of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City on July 22, 2024.
In a press release, House Speaker Romualdez vowed to prioritize the discussion and approval of the PhP6.352 trillion national budget for fiscal year (FY) 2025 and the remaining Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) priority bills.
Congress also reported that it has approved all 17 priority measures mentioned by the President in his last SONA. Five (5) of these priority bills have been enacted into law: the LGU Income Classification (RA 11964), the Ease of Paying Taxes Act (RA 11976), the Tatak Pinoy Law (RA 11981), the New Government Procurement Reform Act (RA 12009) and the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (RA 12010).
This year’s SONA also marks the opening of the third and last regular session of the 19th Congress.
