FIRST Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte has offered a P1-million cash reward to any individual who can provide information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the killing of an architect, whose body was found in an open canal in Barangay Dacudao in Calinan here last week.
Davao police earlier confirmed that the 28-year-old victim, Vlanche Marie Bragas, a resident of Megaville, was also sexually assaulted before she was murdered by still unidentified suspect/s. The police found her cadaver in Dacudao at around 8 a.m. on May 17 following reports from concerned citizens.
“As we, the Davaoeños, continue to seek justice for Miss Bragas, we offer P1-million reward to anyone who can tell us the whereabouts of the suspect/s,” Duterte said.
Duterte, saddened by the news, expressed his deepest condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family. He said the victim, just like any other resident here, was doing the best she can every day for a living and her future.
“Ms. Vlanche Marie Bragas is an ordinary Davaoeña who strives hard every day for her future and her family. I, together with the Bragas family, mourn her death,” Duterte said.
Initial investigation by the Calinan Police Station revealed that the victim’s body was found in a “prone position” at an open canal, particularly at a banana plantation owned by a cooperative in Davao City. The police retrieved the cadaver covered in banana leaves.
Vlanche was reported missing from 12:30 a.m. on May 17. She was last seen riding a yellow electric tri-wheeler vehicle near Crossing Fausta in Calinan.
The police investigation is ongoing in the search for the suspect/s behind the crime incident.
A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Bragas has been formed by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) to focus on resolving the case.
