Remulla on preliminary probe into P6.7B anti-illegal drugs operation: Nobody will be spared

admin April 19, 2024

THE preliminary investigation into an anti-illegal drugs operation in Tondo, Manila, wherein 990 kilograms of shabu worth P6.7 billion has started were confiscated from a lending office believed to be owned by Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo.

The Justice department said the government prosecutors furnished the 74 respondents with copies of the complaints so they can intelligently respond to the accusations hurled against them.

The two complaints were filed by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) and the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).

Of the 74 respondents, only 59 appeared to personally receive the complaints, and were given until May 30th, 2024, to file their counter-affidavits.

The preliminary investigation will resume on May 2 to allow those who failed to appear to receive the complaints against them.

For his part, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla vowed that the DOJ will exhaust all means necessary to find the truth about the issue.

“The Department is relentless in getting to the bottom of this case. We are giving all the parties equal opportunities to ensure that there will be no let-up and that airtight cases will be filed and not left unaddressed,” Remulla said.

“Nobody will be spared from this investigation,” he added.
