Recovery of El Niño-hit farmers, fisherfolk key to Bagong Pilipinas

admin June 20, 2024

TO address the lingering effects of El Niño, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday led the distribution of presidential assistance to farmers, fisherfolk and families in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte as he reiterated the ceaseless efforts of the government to sustain progress in Caraga.

In his speech, President Marcos highlighted the value of helping farmers and fisherfolks recover from El Nino which, he said, is key to achieving the “Bagong Pilipinas”.

“Naniniwala kami na ang pagkalinga sa ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda sa mga panahong tulad nito ang susi upang muling makabangon at makatulong sa pagpapanday ng isang mas masagana at maunlad na Bagong Pilipinas,” he said.

The President acknowledged the efforts and sacrifices of farmers and fisherfolk, which, according to him, not only show their incomparable love for family but also demonstrate their pure intention for the Philippines.

“Makakaasa po kayo na magiging kaagapay ninyo ang administrasyong ito upang mabigyan ng katuparan ang inyong mga mithiin at mapaunlad pang lalo ang inyong mga kabuhayan,” President Marcos said while encouraging the beneficiaries to participate in various government initiatives to achieve a “Bagong Pilipinas.”

The Chief Executive also underscored various projects of the government in the region, such as the National Rice Program, National Corn Program, and High-Value Crops Development Program.

He also underlined government infrastructure projects such as the construction of Butuan City–Agusan del Norte Logistical Highway, which is expected to bridge both existing and possible agricultural economic zones and the bypass road connecting Mayor Democrito D. Plaza II Avenue and Daang Maharlika will hasten the flow of products and service in the province.

In closing, Marcos enjoined everyone to unite and work together for a better tomorrow.
