A CYBERLIBEL complaint has been filed by businessman Enrique Razon, chairman of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), against Cavite 4th District Rep. Kiko Barzaga.
The lawsuit stems from alleged false statements made by Barzaga on his social media account.
According to Razon’s legal counsel, Atty. Laurence Arroyo, the complaint is in response to Barzaga’s January 9 Facebook post. The post claimed that “NUP (National Unity Party) Congressmen received bribes from Enrique Razon in various gatherings in Solaire prior to the 2025 elections in exchange for supporting Speaker Martin Romualdez [of Leyte].” Arroyo stated to reporters that “The basis of this complaint is our position that what he said is false and malicious.”
Barzaga, when reached for comment, indicated his readiness to defend himself in court. “I will face him in court,” Barzaga said.
House Deputy Speaker and NUP chairman Ronaldo “Ronnie” Puno has also previously stated that the NUP intends to file charges against Barzaga, a former member of the party.
Puno described Barzaga’s allegations as “baseless, reckless, and malicious” and asserted, “We will see him in court, since he chose to malign all members of the NUP—a party once led by his own father and one that he himself joined.” Barzaga has maintained that his allegations are substantiated, stating, “I will reveal the evidence once I return to Congress.”
