VICE President Sara Duterte slammed National Police chief Gen. Rommel Marbil after the organization pulled out her security detail and accused the PNP chief of lying over the reason for the pullout.
In an open letter posted on Duterte’s social media platform to Marbil, Duterte noted that the 75 police personnel were recalled after she resigned as Education Secretary, after her comments on the State of the Nation Address, where she called herself the “designated survivor,” and after an alleged cocaine video came out.
“Let us spare our people from all the lies. Let us call it what it is — a clear case of political harassment,” Duterte said.
This was clear because the recalled police personnel enjoyed her “trust and confidence” given that they had either guarded her father when he was President, or had been with her since 2007.
“It was obviously a targeted list and a targeted maneuver — nothing else,” she said.
The Vice President also took Marbil to task for saying there was “no threat” against her, considering the media were able to get footage of her and her family leaving the country for Germany.
She also noted that there were police personnel trying to find her house to case it.
“Ano ba ang ibig sabihin ng ‘threat’ sa iyo? Ang banta ba ay maaari lamang magmula sa mga external elements? Hindi na ba ‘threat’ kung ang harassment ay nanggagaling mismo sa mga tauhan ng gobyerno? (What does ‘threat’ mean to you? Can a threat only come from external elements? Is it no longer a ‘threat’ if the harassment comes from government personnel themselves?)” she said.
“Tandaan mo, pagdating sa seguridad ng aking pamilya, ako ang magsasabi kung sino ang karapat-dapat, hindi ikaw. Batas ka lang, hindi ka Diyos (Remember, when it comes to the security of my family, I will decide who is deserving, not you. You are just the law, not God),” she added.
