PHILIPPINE National Police spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo on Wednesday said that they will not enforce the warrant of former president Rodrigo Duterte if the International Criminal Court (ICC) will enforce the warrant.
It’s because, the PNP considers the ICC as having no jurisdiction in the country, added Fajardo.
She was also quoted as saying that the issuance of the warrant would be considered interference in Philippine sovereignty.
But she also said the PNP has no information about any arrest warrant from the ICC being issued against Duterte.
Earlier, former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte had received information that he could be arrested any time.
Roque later said the arrest warrant could either come from the ICC, or from a local case for sedition.
The ICC has been investigating the crimes against humanity complaint filed against Duterte for the drug war killing in the country that took place under his watch.
