THE Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy at least 34,000 security forces to places where vacationers are expected to converge as they travel to the provinces for the Holy Week.
The PNP said the deployment of thousands of police forces is part of Oplan Ligtas Sumvac (summer vacation) to ensure the safety of travelers.
PNP spokeswoman Col. Jean Fajardo said personnel to be deployed include 7,000 policemen
The PNP is in the final stage of its preparations for its Oplan Ligtas Sumvac.
“Initially, we have 43,000 PNP personnel who will be deployed for Oplan Sumvac. However, this will be adjusted, depending on the peace and order environment on the ground,” said Fajardo.
Fajardo said police regional directors were given the discretion to adjust their security deployment, depending on the situation in their respective jurisdiction.
She added that police officers are not only tasked to closely watch tourist spots but also transportation terminals, expressways and major transport points.
