THE Philippine National Police (PNP) acquired more vehicles, firearms, K9 dogs, night vision devices and all-purpose vests.
PNP, Officer-in Charge Police Lieutenant General Vicente D Danao Jr personally witnessed the presentation and blessing of the newly-acquired PNP vehicles and equipment this morning in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Police Major General Ronaldo E Olay, the Director for Logistics and PNP Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Chairman, presented to the PNP OIC the newly procured equipment consisting of:
a. 16 units Brand New Vans;
b. three units Light Transport Vehicle;
c. 8,358 units 9mm Striker Fired Pistol “GIRSAN;
d. 8,500 units 5.56mm Basic Assault Rifle “GALIL”;
e. 34 units 7.62mm Light Machine Gun “NEGEV”;
f. 45 units Explosive Detector Dog;
g. 620 units Autogated Night Vision Device; and
h. 5,298 units All Purpose Vest (Undershirt Vest).
Olay said that this newly procured equipment will be issued to different PNP units nationwide including PNP Training Institute (PNPTI), Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), PNP Mobile Force Companies, National Support Units and Police Stations.
“I know that this procurement is most advantageous to the PNP, cost-wise and in terms of quality, to support the operations of the Philippine National Police,” OIC, PNP PLTGEN Danao said in his statement.
The new equipment were successfully procured from the funds under Capability Enhancement Programs (CEPs) 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, Congress-Introduced Initiative Appropriation FY 2021, and Trust Receipts 2018 amounting to P764,115,073.40.
Coinciding with the blessing and presentation of the new equipment, the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association Inc. (AFPMBAI) headed by Major General Rizaldo B Limoso (Ret) turnover of one unit Toyota Grandia Hiace Van, while Ms.TeresitaAng-See, Vice Chairman, PNP Foundation, Inc. also donated various personal protective equipment such as facemasks, protective cover-all, surgical gloves, alcohol, and Vitamin C.
“Sa lahat po ng ating benevolent stakeholders, we would like to express, on behalf of the 225,000 strong men and women of the Philippine National Police, we would like to thank especially our stakeholders for those benevolent act of giving us equipment which we know would be very very helpful to our Philippine National Police,” Danao expressed.
Danao reminded PNP personnel especially the receiving units to take good care of these new sets of equipment and vehicles.
“Sa mga officers, lalong-lalo na yung gagamit, please have the heart of maintaining these vehicles, these equipment para naman it will build to last, it was built to last and it will be protecting not only the lives of our PNP but the lives of Filipino as well,” PLTGEN Danao added.
