PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. was right in choosing Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara as Secretary of the Department of Education, says Agusan del Norte 2nd District Representative Dale Corvera.
“Senator Angara possesses the credentials and experience of a true education champion owing to a number of legislative measures on education he authored in the Senate and in the House of Representatives when he was Congressman representing Aurora’s lone district.”
“Being in the EDCOM 2, the national commission tasked to undertake a comprehensive national assessment and evaluation of the performance of the Philippine education sector gives him the right perspective of the challenges and problems in the education sector and makes him the best person to institute reforms therein”, Corvera said.
Corvera, a Member of the House Committee on Basic Education and Culture and National President of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in which the DepEd Secretary is an ex-officio member of the BSP National Executive Board, hopes that in the process of instituting reforms in the education sector, Secretary Angara will also see among others the important role Scouting plays in the education system of the country since Scouting in the Philippines is school-based.
