PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday left Manila for Labuan Bajo in Indonesia to participate in the 42nd ASEAN Summit.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Marcos is expected to assert the importance of demonstrating ASEAN’s centrality in the region amidst geopolitical rivalries.
The President will also advance the Philippines’ priorities in ASEAN through regional and multilateral cooperation, the DFA said.
The Summit’s opening ceremony would be held on May 10, which will be followed by a plenary session as well as a series of interfaces among ASEAN leaders, representatives, and delegates of relevant ASEAN bodies.
