PBBM directs Speaker to provide aid to families of fallen, wounder soldiers in Lanao de Norte clashes

admin February 25, 2024

Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez delivers his welcome remarks during the Cornell Club of the Philippines "Speaker and Forum" on Financial Literacy held Friday afternoon at Manila Golf and Country Club,Makati City.

UPON the instructions of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Sunday announced the financial aid to the families of the six soldiers who perished during clashes with terrorist group Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute in Lanao del Norte last Feb. 18.

Romualdez bared the presidential directive to officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Sultan Kudarat, where the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair is being held from February 25 to 26.

As instructed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at bilang pasasalamat sa serbisyo at sakripisyo ng apat na sugatan at anim na nasawing mga bayani, tayo’y magbigigay ng cash assistance, educational at livelihood assistance para sa kanilang mga pamilya at mga anak,” Romualdez said.

He said these soldiers have displayed exemplary bravery and dedication to their duty to defend the country in their encounter against the members of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute terrorist group.

Reports said the extremist group clashed with soldiers from the 44th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Ramain, Munai town in Lanao del Norte, leading to the death of six soldiers and the injury of four others.
