PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr arrived in the country following a successful Working Visit to the United States of America (USA).
During his eventful visit to the US, President Marcos Jr. delivered a historic speech at the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) where he called for stronger cooperation and accountability in the climate change framework of industrialized countries.
He also emphasized the need for strong investment in food security to ease the growing crisis on food and boost agricultural productivity.
The Chief Executive spoke with US President Joseph R. Biden in a bilateral meeting where both leaders stressed the importance of the two countries’ alliance and highlighted their mutual support for freedom of navigation and peaceful resolution of disputes. They also discussed opportunities to expand relations on various areas of cooperation such as infrastructure, climate change and energy security.
President Marcos Jr. gave special recognition to the Filipino nurses and healthcare workers for their crucial role in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic when he personally met the Filipino community in New Jersey on the very first day of his visit.
