SENATOR Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan released a statement on February 11, 2026, condemning the Chinese Embassy’s response to an official act of the Philippine Senate, calling it undiplomatic and boorish.
Pangilinan stated that the Chinese Embassy’s actions, in violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, prove that China is a bully with no respect for international law. He said that their actions deserve condemnation.
The senator emphasized that the Philippines will never tolerate nor be cowed by foreigners disrespecting the country in its own land.
Pangilinan reiterated his call for the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to take the necessary diplomatic measures to uphold the dignity of the Republic of the Philippines and to ensure that relations with other States are conducted in accordance with international law and established principles of State relations.
