HINIKAYAT ni Senator Francis “TOL” Tolentino si Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na ideklara na ang State of National Emergency dahil sa lumalalang epekto African Swine Flu (ASF) sa local swine industry.
Paliwanag ni Tolentino na ang local swine industry ay isa sa mga pinakamalaking livestock subsector at pangalawa sa pinakamalaking contributor sa Philippine agriculture, kasunod ng bigas.
“Latest government data showed that the virus has spread to 460 towns of 1,486 across 54 of 82 provinces which already have incidents of ASF,” ayon sa Senate Resolution No. 565 na inihain ni Tolentino.
