AROUND P50M ayuda has been allotted by the Department of Labor and Employment for financial assistance to the displaced workers affected by the magnitude 7 earthquake that recently hit Abra, an official said Thursday.
DOLE – Cordillera Administrative Region director Nathaniel Lacambra said these funds will be used under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
“Na-advise-an ako ng Central Office na meron silang ibaba na P50 million for the rehabilitation on TUPAD ng ating probinsya ng Abra at saka yung probinsya ng Cordillera,” he said at a public briefing.
(The Central Office advised me that it will download a P50 million budget for the rehabilitation of the TUPAD program in our province Abra and other provinces in Cordillera.)
Right now, only P25 million have been released to DOLE- CAR. According to Lacambra, the amount will be concentrated first on Abra, which is the area most affected by the earthquake.
Lacambra said around P8 million of these funds have already been disbursed as of Wednesday afternoon.
So far, there are around 425 TUPAD beneficiaries, the DOLE official said.
Under the TUPAD program, beneficiaries will be temporarily employed from 10 to 90 days with a daily salary of P380, Lacambra said.
